Oysters in Silver Spring

Brad Feickert, owner and lead butcher of SOKO Oysters, brings years of culinary expertise to the table. Born and raised in Purcellville, Virginia, Brad started his culinary career at 16. His passion for food and cooking led him to pursue a deeper understanding of the culinary arts.

While attending college, Brad realized his calling and decided to focus on cooking. After graduating, he joined the Sea Islands apprenticeship program in Georgia, where he worked at top-tier restaurants, including the renowned “Georgian Room.” This experience fueled his desire to explore the history and techniques of cooking further.

To expand his skills, Brad attended the International Culinary Center (ICC) in Campbell, California. During his time there, he served as sous chef at Haymarket, a farm-to-table restaurant, where he honed his craft in sustainable and ethical cooking practices. This experience deepened his respect for local sourcing and high-quality ingredients, both of which play an important role in his current ventures.

After completing his studies at ICC, Brad returned to the East Coast, working under the mentorship of Bryan Voltaggio at VOLT, a fine-dining restaurant in Maryland. His time at VOLT sharpened his skills in the art of fine dining. Following his stint there, Brad traveled to Australia, where he worked at esteemed establishments such as Attica and Brae, further expanding his culinary horizons.

After a year abroad, Brad returned to Northern Virginia and took over the newly founded Oz in Arlington. Now, at SOKO Oysters, Brad continues to elevate his craft, focusing on ethically sourced shellfish, particularly oysters. SOKO Oysters offers a variety of shellfish, oysters, tasty sandwiches, and seasonal salads, all crafted with the same dedication to quality and sustainability that has defined Brad’s career.

Whether you’re craving fresh oysters or a hearty seasonal dish, SOKO Oysters provides a farm-to-table experience with a focus on high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients. Visit us today for a true taste of sustainable oysters in Silver Spring.
